November 26 is celebrated as Constitution Day in India to commemorate the adoption of the Constitution by the Constituent Assembly on this day in 1949. It was officially declared a national observance in 2015 to honor the contributions of its framers, particularly Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, and to promote constitutional values among citizens. While the constitution was adopted on November 26, it officially came into effect on Republic Day, January 26, 1950.
